Hmm... In my bin-folder do I have the following folders:

Code: Select all

win_x64

win_x86
What is the difference between those two? (other than the obvious name difference)

Why is the folder with the 32-bit version called win_x86?

The naming convention for what we know today as the 32-bit computer architecture was originally 80x86, a long-standing reference to the original 16-bit Intel 8086 processor chip, and the naming convention of its successors, including the 32-bit pioneer of the 80386 series.

The "x86" is actually a reference to the machine-code instruction set that the original 8086 chips used to operate. The 32-bit and 64-bit versions are really just extensions to that original 16-bit instruction set that was called "x86".
So the proper names for these two extended sets of instructions that modern CPUs use are actually "x86-32" and "x86-64", but for convenience in modern times that in itself gets shortened to "x86" and "x64".

Help!

Anyone know how I can fix this :)

I followed instructions in this post, to use ets2 at 64bit. After making shortcut it still runs at 32bit
If I open ETS2 using my steam account and choose 64bit everything works fine. :)
Can I create a shortcut on desktop linked to my steam account so I use 64bit

There are 2 folders for ETS 2 on my computer can I use one of these for steam shortcut
if I can which one please?

Thank you.

Inside the win_x64 folder, you can find the shortcut for the version you want: [ external image ]

IonutL and TarsoMagno

Thank you for your help, I did try and it still only will run 32bit.
I have another screenshot can you tell me what the complete name in the file path should be:
on my computer I would go to:

"I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\win_x64"

"I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\win_x64"-64bit

still only run in 32bit... so must still be doing wrong :(

Where is launch parameters.. I only have "start in" or "target".. when I click on properties of short cut

Thanks again for help :)

On steam => right click on ETS2 => select properties => on general tab => click at SET LAUNCH OPTIONS => write only -64bit and click ok

Use the normal icon on your desktop and you`re done

delete any change you did to the path or simply delete the current desktop icon and use the CREATE DESKTOP SHORTCUT for a brand new one free from changes.

I write concerning more or less the same problem to open the game in 64bit. In my local drive I have 2 folders inside the steam folder, exactly as in a post above, respectively win_x64 and win_x86. My PC is quite competent running in Windows 10 on 64 bit, with I7-4770 processor and 8Gb RAM, however it seems that the game won't play in 64bit no matter which of the 2 exe files I launch (64 or 86). since in the last time I get often game crashes due to some Microsoft Visuals C++ I would like to try playing in 64bit. (I updated all those visuals from 2005 to 2015 both 64 and 32 versions).
If I launch the game from Steam as 64bit, game seems to launch correctly in 64bit, however there is no way to set my logitech profiler an make use of all 900° of steering wheel turning.
I checked the integrity of local files and all ok, please help! thanks
