How to install mods on ETS2

#1 Post by NeedHelp » 02 Jun 2013 14:06

I have installed mods for Eurotruck, I unzipped them and placed them in mod file is that all i have to do?

This is the mod I installed http://ets2.lt/en/page/2/?s=signs (HD sign mod, at bottom of page)

ANSWER:

Download mods. If they are in an archive, look inside to check if there are more than one mods. Normally, the mods have the file extension scs. Plain zip works, too. Extract them from the archive, if that is the case. A mod must is a single file. If you end up with more files with extensions such as sii or other than zip or scs, then you've gone too deep with the archive unpacking.
After you are certain you have the correct files, put them into the mod folder:

Code: Select all

C:\Users\[current user]\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod
The above example is for win7, but it should be similar, for other versions.
[current user] = your username (on that computer)

Now, start the game and, after the Euro Truck Simulator 2 logo animation intro, at the profile selection screen, choose your profile and click Edit.
If the mod files are correct, you should see them in the right hand list. Activate them by clicking the checkbox next to their name. You can activate them all, only a few or none.
Confirm your choice by clicking Apply and then click Continue.

You need to activate the mods in your profile. Press EDIT and Select your mods.

Not to nitpick, but this isn't the help section now is it? Next time post in the correct area, these forums seem to be messy enough as it is, don't need people posting their questions just anywhere and making it worse.

Is there any chance this could be put in a sticky, maybe it would stop people asking?

I know I searched for a long time before I found out this information when I first started truckin'.

If you check his/her username you'll see he/she only made the account so he/she can post this question. Not really caring about the Forum Rules or searching the forum, right?

Yeah I suppose so...

Maybe a sticky with a title that is more likely to be picked up by search engines might help though?

Like "How to install mods on ETS2" maybe?

I'm just trying to imagine what people are "googling" and "MOD MOD NEED HELP PLEASE" probably wouldn't be picked up...

When I applied mods there was a line telling me that my game used unauthorized modifications and that if it crashed I should remove the modifications.

Is this standard message or am I using a mod that's 'unauthorized'?

It's standard behavior.
Let's you know there is no support for modified game.
