Re: How many "vanilla" gamers are we?
I generally don't like to use mods. I like the stability of the vanilla game, and usually consider that they made things a particular way for a reason.
But..
I did end up getting a camera mod that allowed me more freedom to move about to take screenshots.
I also got a mod that reduced (but did not eliminate) bloom.
That's it at this point. So I'm almost a vanilla gamer!

Don't get me wrong, some of the mods out there do you look really good, but I prefer the vanilla game as it is stable
I do however think sometimes that SCS missed a trick, how difficult would it have been to get real companies (Haulage and Delivery) in the game, I would even pay for DLC to enable that.

I completely agree with Leen, same here. I do use soundmods and the DLC's but nothing else.

It's funny how things change.
What I wrote above was true at the time I wrote it. Now...I am using a number of mods. Mods to add seasons to the game, mods to remove the big green activity icons, mods to put ADR and other markers on the trucks, etc.
They enhance the game for me. The price is stability - of the game that is. When the game crashes I have to wonder, or run tests, as to if it's mod related.
The game is actually so good already that had there been no mods ever made for it I would still be happy. But since there are, I'll enjoy a select few.

Nothing wrong with vanilla and i keep a dedicated profile in both ETS and ATS. There's however two mods that i usually activate even in my so called vanilla profiles; a proper sound mod for the truck i'm using and the 50% version of "the smaller hud mirrors <F2>" mod.
I've never done that before, so I'm sure I can do it (Långstrump, Pippi)

I don't like using vanilla trucks because they lack at details, quality, sound and at texture quality (except the reworked DAF, that's for sure! ). Of course, SCS is not putting very high-poly models in game because not all players have performance computers. I'm playing on a kinda' high specced PC so i don't really have big problems with the FPS when playing with high-poly models. That's why i use so many mods. Why would i stuck to vanilla trucks when i can play with high-poly models without problems?

Re: How many "vanilla" gamers are we?
I've always thought that the poll in this thread was a bit odd, because DLC's are official content. Simply put, "DLC" is the modern description of an official expansion pack from a game developer, thus "vanilla", while mods are 3rd party modifications, thus not "vanilla". So in my opinion, DLC's shouldn't even be mentioned in the poll, because they are included in the description "vanilla".

Actually, I found that odd, too. On my freshly bought box it says loudly and clearly: Official extension for ETS2 (Offizielle Erweiterung für den Euro Truck Simulator 2). Vanilla as I always understood it includes all SCS made content, thus the official "game".

My perception too. Vanilla = SCS only.
Whatever is not supported by the original company* is/are mods.
My vanilla only includes original europe map. But DLCs would be welcome. Do you listen, Santa?
