Re: Oregon state research
As you and I are in the same intersection boat of misery, I sincerely hope they put in the research you have... it's really quite simple. Well done good sir!

Re: Oregon state research
This is perfect! I hope SCS takes a close look at your post.
This makes me want to start a new research topic on Washington as you have for Oregon.

Re: Oregon state research
If you're driving north to south (or vice versa) and you're in a hurry, stick to I-5. But if you're not, US 101 on the coast is the best coastal road in the west... [ external image ]

Re: Oregon state research
I have a few things to contribute. I am an Oregonian myself, and I have high hopes for my state!
First of all, a while back I began a steam discussion and collected suggestions for Oregon. Some of what was in that thread has already been mentioned, but I feel that our list of landmarks would be important in making the game's Oregon feel like the real Oregon:
- Upper Klamath Lake / Lake Ewauna near Klamath Falls
- Crater Lake in southern Oregon
- The Freemont Bridge in Portland, which is the more majestic of Portland's two double decker freeway bridges. Photo
- Astoria-Megler Bridge, which is a four mile epic bridge that connects Oregon and Washington at the mouth of the Columbia. Photo
- Hydroelectric dams along the Columbia River Gorge and Santiam Pass (which is an important mountain pass connecting Salem and Bend that offers very scenic yet challenging driving)
- Vista Ridge Tunnels in Portland. The tunnels themselves aren’t very exciting, however they do provide a dramatic transition from a forested area in the hills to the city’s skyline.
Streetview
- Multnomah Falls along the Columbia River Gorge
- Lighthouses along the coast
- Astoria Column in Astoria
- Pillars of Rome in eastern Oregon, which is an interesting geological formation.
Overall, I hope the Oregon DLC is not just limited to the major freeways mentioned earlier in this post. While those are important to have, smaller roads such as US 101 and Santiam Pass (US 20) will probably be more scenic, challenging, and fun to drive on.

Re: Oregon state research
About the speed limit (yes after playing Euro truck with the limiter on I definitely got a need for speed habit on high gear) Oregon is going to raise the speed limit for trucks.... better just to follow this link:

Re: Oregon state research
Regarding the speed limit changes, this map outlines the major roads that are affected and what the new speed limits are.
http://media.oregonlive.com/commuting/p ... a0f937.jpg
Note that I5 is not affected by the changes, and truck limits remain 5 below the car limits. Also, in real life speed limits signs show both car and truck limits whenever they are different.

Re: Oregon state research
Okay, now hopefully SCS will add speed signs for trucks as well as cars, unlike what they have done so far.

Re: Oregon state research
as far as i can tell the state of Oregon allows triple trailers on I-5 and selected highways on the east side of the state. must have a long load banner across the rear doors of the last trailer of the triple set
