Truck stuck

#1 Post by Turt213 » 10 Mar 2014 12:36

I somehow managed to get this merc stuck not once but twice lol. There seems to be a lump that the rear steer wheels go up onto & thus loosing traction to the rear drive wheels. The drive wheels just spin when you rev the truck. Either the steer wheels are not pushing up into the guards far enough or the drive wheels are not dropping down enough to get grip.

Version: 1.9.6s
No map mods nor any that effect prefabs/trucks/trailers. Just gps & mirror mod.
Coord's: (sec+0008+0004);32375.8;29.8854;17607.3

This would happen with all trucks with 6X2 combination.
I guess this would happen as well in real life, if you master to stop just there with your steering wheels. (Correct me if I am wrong).
We could then discuss if the bumb should be that high or not.
Press T a couple of times and your going again. I don't know if we should see this as an error, I hope other can decide that.

Thanks for the "press T" tip Flemming. I saved just before leaving the yard. You have to have enough speed to get over it, but then get on the brakes so you don't end up in traffic lol.

I'm not sure how far real suspension drops down, but if it didn't drop down enough you would be looking for the jack & chocks lol.

Be careful about saying "no mods that affect ..." You never know until you test it without mods.
So, if you don't mind doing just that?

Anyway, this looks more like a tweak than an actual bug. As others said this happens IRL, too. But, in the game, if you get stuck there's no one to help you out, unless you're willing to pay dearly for the towing services...

And another observation: is that a bug with the building? if you look at the left hand side wall, it seems to be floating, the sidewalk is too short and the shadowmap doesn't fit the sidewalk...

The building is standing on the bumb, but it's hard to see in this picture.

Very true Ohaha & will do.

I have a very bad habit of opening every mod I download & checking it for errors/conflicts/what it affects...even your's :)

I've had this habit since the haulin days. But I hear what your saying & will comply.

It's not only that a lot of mods do more than they are advertised to do (map mods changing weather, truck mods changing economy etc.) but there are some files which are common to a lot of the mods, like game_data, economy_data, physics etc. So, a GPS mod, that changes game_data, for the zoom factors, will also affect other variables, if those went through transformations, with subsequent patches.
I remember having a small adjustment in my mod to enable the AI trucks to have a proper engine grill. Then, with 1.9, I noticed a Volvo overtaking me at speeds in excess of 140kph!!! It took me a while to realize the problem was from the traffic file, because speed parameters changed.

It looks to me as if the ground inside the yard is to low & when you drive out you have to go up on to the road. Here's some more shots to show what I mean,

Version: 1.9.6s
No mods :)
City: Budapest
Coords: (sec+0008+0004);32374.3;29.5315;17587.4

In this shot you can see the angle that you have to drive up to exit the yard. The end of the footpath is the start of the angle & just behind front wheel is the end of it.

I hate that place, but specially that narrow doorway. That was the first place I ever used the teleport thing to move the truck.
