Roundabout AI

#1 Post by BASSLovah » 06 Apr 2014 14:25

Well, I've searched for this around the entire bug report section and I didn't find any similar report. If there is, and I missed it, I apologize.

What I want to report is a strange and wrong AI behavior in roundabouts. The vehicles outside it are the ones that should yeld, not the ones inside, and I had a lot of accidents because of this. I would like to point out that I didn't have this problem before 1.9

Here is a screenshot explaining the issue: (It happens in all roundabouts tho)

I'm playing ETS2 version 1.9.24.1s without DLC and/or mods

Cheers

I've had the same problem mostly in England and reported it and was told it was a MOD issue(NOT) as I tried with and without and got the same results. My take on round-about's is that local turns use outside and long turns use inside circle. This is not what is happening ? ? ?

Even if you are on the outside ring and heading to an exit, AI from the inside ring heading to the same exit will still crash into you. Roundabouts are bugged

Remember to always use your turn signals. They don't know where you're going.

I see that pretty useless since it happens in every roundabout. XD

@ohaha, I seem to remember using them most of the time with the same outcome, but I will check again.

As a general rule I always check what they're doing, in my mirrors, always put my blinkers on, when I want to leave the intersection, and drive slowly - just as one should do IRL, especially when driving a huge truck.
They are not human, so don't expect them to anticipate your trajectory. You must give them time to detect you and "decide" what to do.
Actually, maybe it's better they're not humans.. less chances of erratic behavior

I've been having this issue since one of the later patches.

It didn't happen in the earlier 1.9 patches, but started some time after 1.9.14

I've also noticed if you are going to the 2nd or 3rd exit, the AI will stop to let you pass, but when you indicate to take the exit they will start moving and T-bone the trailer. :?

I've noticed this more and more, the AI just drives onto the round-a-bout and hits the side of my truck, or if I want to take the 2nd or 3rd exit, but an AI wants to take the exit 1st relative to me, they will also hit me.
So far it's happened on every round-a-bout in various countries in the game.
I've also seen AI stopping on the round-a-bout and giving way to other AI that will take the exit they've stopped at.

I will confirm this is really bad in 1.9.24 versus earlier beta versions.

I don't know what the AI is going to do in a round about and basically just gamble that I will, or will not get hit in some way even when I use my turn signals.
