Some overall code refinements would be super cool to allow engines with varrying torques to rev correctly, but could a quick and dirty solution be reached by simply introducing something like "engine_resistance: [X]" to the engine .sii, allowing modders to fine tune the revving characteristics on a per engine basis, or are there too many independent calculations done in the base game effecting engine rev to use a single multiplier?

this is not that dirty solution and, to be honest, i planned to add something like resistance_torque to define this behavior per engine basis and clean up the issue. if made by separate value it can be used to emulate older or technically bit different engines as well (if you can obtain such data ;))
cannot confirm that it will be done before next big update though .. :?

This next big update people are talking about last few days... anything else except Michelin tyres(tires?)?

Those look to be a DLC. Probably no relation to an upcoming game update.

The Michelin DLC is only for ETS2.
I'm also curious if the next big update is in 1.6 or in the 1.7 version.

big update is by (my) definition when the second number changes.
so 1.6 will be big, while 1.5.12.487 wont .. :)

On extended hiatus.

sorry, for necro the thread, but i would like you to look on current betas if we managed to handle the issues somewhat.

engine resistance param was added, defaulted from volume (not torque).
through this power progression with throttle could be better tweaked.
in addition engine inertia is also based on volume.
with all these internal changes consumption was re-balanced also.

Thanks. I think why consumption increased again.

Hi,

As i said in the other topic about 1.6 beta patch Max, for me it's very nice now. The engine has a better feeling. It's a good idea to make the inertia with the volume of the engine.

Thanks again.
