What is with I-5

So I've noticed, the fields along I-5 south of Redding all the way down to the Grapevine don't seem very open. In real life you can see the fields extend as far as the eye can see, limited by the earth's curvature. So SCS, please make it feel a bit more wide open, there aren't really any hills on the east side of I-5 in the Central Valley.

If you had gone into free view with "dev mode" you'd see that the compressed map would make you see over to CA99 and even the coast on the other side.
