Weigh station device deafening & add. question
Weigh station device deafening & add. question
I wasn't sure where to bring this up but I don't know if it's my speakers but when the weigh station beeps, it's very loud. Loud enough to feel like it's right next to my ear and it makes me jump. XD Is there a way we can turn it down? I've tried unchecking reverse stereo but it's done little to fix. And has anyone came up on a railroad crossing that didn't have it's invisible barrier lifted when the train passed? I had one stop just in front of a service station I went to pull into to sleep in Oxnard I believe and the train passed, gates raised but the barrier never did. I crashed into nothing. I'm not running any mods so it can't be that.
Re: Weigh station device deafening & add. question
To answer your first question: have you tried adjusting the sound levels in options? Like turn down the sound effects. I had to adjust that, and the sound is not too bad. Still annoying tho.
Your second question: never had that problem. Then again, after the gates COMPLETELY lift up, I usually wait 2-3 seconds before I take off.

Just a question, is your age below 20?
This type of sounds is more loud for younger / child ages (they can hear high frequency sounds much better than adults)

I find that beeping sound unnecessarily loud too. I wouldn't want other sound effects to have to be softer just because of the weigh station beeper. Then I just have to turn the volume back up.... 29 years old, if you're counting.
Re: Weigh station device deafening & add. question
That is true. The other sound effects shouldn't suffer because of that, but it is what it is. btw, I'm 35.

I just reduce sound volume in sound editor, and now I'm fine.SiSL wrote:This type of sounds is more loud for younger

Well if you really want a more normalized sound you will need a mod to lower the volume of it (files found in sound/truck/prepass_*). Sound Fixes Pack already does this (which you can find in my signature).
Re: Weigh station device deafening & add. question
Yes I have. But it makes the rest of the sounds too quiet. And I waited 2 minutes. I kept hitting the same invisible barrier even after backing up and waiting for a minute.kojak313 wrote:To answer your first question: have you tried adjusting the sound levels in options? I'm 32. My hearing is just really good. It wouldn't bother me if sudden loud sounds didn't make me jump.SiSL wrote:Just a question, is your age below 20?

Ahah no, don't get me wrong. It's not a hearing problem. As humans gets older, hearing certain frequency sounds gets lower by default, not illness or anything

To your 2nd question: Had the same problem at the Oxnard railway crossing. I should report this as a bug in the according forum. Cheers!
