Indeed, no news about buying your own trailers in game.
However, there is a mod/external program which simulate this, for both ETS2 and ATS.

I tried it and it works fine, with one small problem - when you want to sell your trailer your amount of money decreases instead of increasing. Mod author is aware of it and issue will be corrected.

Remember, Low clearance bars/signs are not really suggestions, more like challenges.
