Can you run multiple copies of ATS on desktop

#1 Post by angrybirdseller » 05 Mar 2017 09:36

I want to run two copies of ATS one for map editing and another for playing the game.

You could try this parameter:

Code: Select all

-nosingle
It would allow two game executables in parallel. With all the consequences. Be sure to have no twice gaming or editing sessions at the same time if not intended.

I don't know if it's still working, but you can create 2 shortcuts with different command launch options, one normal and one with the "-edit" option:
Reinhard wrote:Two switches for people working on the map:

-edit starts the map editor
like -edit europe
No further command or clicks necessary to enter the map editor.

-preview start the game in preview mode, known also as "run map"
like -preview europe
spawns truck at location marked in the map with the "start position" command. Game version 1.17 makes this much more interesting. Because if you copy your default's profile "controls.sii" to the personal ETS 2 directory and rename it to "preview_controls.sii", you can have your usual controller keys for driving at hand, from scratch. Before this, you got to start the game, load your profile, and click "run map" or type "preview europe" into the console to get these settings into the preview mode.

A parameter to start the game in either windowed mode or fullscreen would be very handy, when switching map editing and gaming.

Only that in this case it is "usa" instead of "europe", like "-edit usa". ;)

Thanks for adding this, it escaped my mind that the question could be about such as well.

Surely the easiest option would just be to use the -homedir command in launch options?

eg: -homedir E:\ETS2\ for your main game profiles

-homedir E:\ETS2mapwork\ for your completely clean map editing profiles.

You'd have to change the launch command each time you wanted to switch, but it seems like the easiest solution to me.

I do see launch options on steam advanced options. Where do I look to see if ATS of location I pointed to with other copy. The thing is like to avoid having playing with config file and also don't want run map editor saves off ssd drive hard do it off harddrive.
