Can I make the trucks less slidey?

#1 Post by HerpyDerpy22 » 12 May 2017 09:33

Playing this game, I always find the trucks to slide around a lot. Is there any way to make this stop?

I haven't been able to stop it completely, but I did tone it down some by increasing the kerb_weight of the truck by editing the chassis file for my Mercedes. However, doing that made the truck have a slow start, so I have been looking into how to edit the transmission to give it a little more Ummmph off the line.

@Axel, you need to look into the torque curve in the engine def, and crawler gears (like an 18speed). I did both on my 2013 Volvo FH (Ohaha version), and get nice acceleration.

I've already edited the torque and added a good bit of overall speed, but that didn't effect the initial acceleration. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to edit the gears yet. But the slow start is realistic... [ external image ]

There's an application in the ATS side of these forums that lets you edit/create a transmission. It has a graph as well so you can visually see the gear range.

Hey, hey, are you sure this applies to ETS One?

ETS 1? Yeah, the road were greased.

I never found a really satisfying solution. The only way to play with it - as I remember - was to change some settings in "/def/vehicle/pacejka/pacejka.sii".

I can't explain which values therein are for what because I don't remember, too long ago. All I can say it is about the grip of the tires. The parameters are for a simplified version of the Pacejka formula.

There is still a mod available: http://trucksimulator24.de/index.php?pa ... eadID=3049. It is basically a backport of the same file from the GTS (German Truck Simulator) base, which had better physics than ETS 1. How helpful this specific mod was I can't say anymore, but I guess it was better than nothing. Use the link named "Download by TS24 DL Server" in the topmost posting.
