Why I can't register the game on Steam?

I have bought ETS1 and ETS2 directly from SCS ... so I have legal copies with legal serial numbers.

I was able to register my ETS2 copy on Steam without any problem, but when I tried to register ETS1 (using copy and paste to be sure) Steam dOesn't recognize the serial number format.

ETS was released on Steam on the 18th of March 2013. Maybe the key you got is too old to be used on Steam. Not in the list of valid keys.

As OHAHA suggested I have contacted the support ... the game was bought on 22 September 2013 and the key has this format:

XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX

I wouldn't know anything about the format used. Only Steam knows what's acceptable and what isn't. Wait for SCS to help you with your issue. (And edit your post, having that much of your key makes it much easier to snag it, not a good idea to post it here)

I sent them a question and they answered in 6 days ... of course they are busy with the future patches and games

Didn't know ets1 was on Steam! Bought it! oh my....

ETS2 is serious serious improvement But ETS1 will be fine on my old laptops for fun

I have bought also GTS and UKTS other than ETS1 ... I like the old graphics but they are sometime demanding for the hardware; BTW the scenery is good and ETS1 gives you access to countries not modeled in ETS2 yet (I mean offical content, not mods).
