Reflectors on back of cabin [32752]
Reflectors on back of cabin [32752]
I'm not from the US, so don't mind my ignorance, but I noticed a while ago that most of the trucks have white reflectors on the back, sort of outlining the size of the cabin. The Peterbilt 579 has it on all cabs, the Kenworth T680 too, but on the W900 only the daycab has them, not the sleepers. So I thought that maybe it isn't a requirement for trucks to have these. But now that we have the Peterbilt 389 to tinker with, it too has those reflectors on the back of all three types of cabins. Wonder why the W900 Studio sleeper and Aerocab sleeper don't have them?
Re: Reflectors on back of cabin
Well, if they're optional, then there'd be no reason for SCS to include them.
If they're a legal requirement, then if you provide documentation/evidence and enter it as a bug, then I'm sure SCS will get round to adding them

Re: Reflectors on back of cabin
jarvik79: the reason I am posting here is because I don't have the attention span (both officially and legally) to dig through law books and what not, just to see if those reflectors are legally required. And I haven't posted in bug reports because I don't know whether it is or not. So if anyone does know, feel free to pipe in!
Re: Reflectors on back of cabin
These may help...but it does look like it is a federal requirement that the reflective sheets have to be applied to the semi and trailers. it shows in the following illustrations showing proper placement of them.

"On August 8, 1996, the NHTSA published a final rule requiring that truck tractors manufactured on or after July 1, 1997, be equipped with red-and-white retroreflective material similar to that required on the rear of the trailers they tow to increase nighttime conspicuity. Manufacturers may choose either retroreflective sheeting or reflex reflectors. In the case of truck tractors delivered with a temporary mudflap arrangement rather than permanent equipment, the requirement for retroreflective material near the top of the mudflap may be satisfied with material carried by the temporary mudflap brackets that are transferable to the permanent mudflap system. Retroreflective material is also required near the top of the cab in a pattern similar to that used on trailers."

Re: Reflectors on back of cabin
Interesting. So it may be a bug, or SCS forgot to apply them on those two cabs. Let's see if we can get a moderator here to chuck this into bug reports board. :q

Re: Reflectors on back of cabin
@Axel I don't think it matters in this case as I believe it relates to all game versions, though I have listed it as 1.4.x on MANTIS.

Completely correct, it is a federal requirement to have these.
Thanks for reporting Tiger313 and thanks for making a bug report Moh1336.
