EU laws tell something about 10t per axle, similar US laws have like 7.5t (simplified intentionally :)).
technical limit of trucks/trailers is bigger - it can bear much more before its broken.
Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

So, is there any way to enforce such a limits in the game, physically (player can't take cargo) or legally (player is fined)? If so, is it planned to do?

Maybe an idea for potential ETS3 (It would require quite significant code/UI change): Limit what cargo weight one can pick up by what axle(s) you have installed on your truck, not just the initial configuration of 4x2, 6x* or 8x*

4x2 and 6x2/4, 6x4 have the same load limit of 40 tons

so they should limit it up to 40tons 4x2 and all 6x chassies and above 8x4

or we need rigid then we have the 60ton trucks with a rigid and a normal trailer with dolly

Heavy weight truck can haul more load x axle compared with standard road services trucks (at least in some country, and with some limitation).
I am pretty sure that in italy and france a 6x4 can do the same job in germany is mandatory for a 8x4.

If he is that open minded, maybe when can get SpaceX parts on those oversize trailers. Loutis would love that.
