Re: SCS Blog discussion
You can't use 8x4 with normal trailers because of the 5th wheel location. The trailers will clip through the truck/chassis so they had to lock that out, but it's not a weight thing.

Re: SCS Blog discussion
What happens in real life if the 5th wheel collides with the trailer?
Re: SCS Blog discussion
@danro it's not the 5th wheel that will collide with the trailer, but the rear of the chassis because the 5th wheel in 8x4 chassis is moved more then others to the front in order to achieve better weight distribution.
Re: SCS Blog discussion
What about weight distribution in shorter chassis? AFAIK in EU there are pretty strict laws about maximum weight per axle, so it's possible that usage of 4×2 or even 6×4 with heaviest cargoes will be illegal.

Re: SCS Blog discussion
Yes in real life chassis have a weight limit, as already mentioned it would be nice to have that included eventually. Weight limitation is not currently possible.
In fact the first two numbers on the Mercedes Actros (MP4) badges are the chassis weight limit.

Re: SCS Blog discussion
Yes, I know, but I meant not the chassis limit (I believe they are actually higher, but written lower just in case) but the laws about force that axle pressing on the road surface.
Here are two documents I just googled for reference: First, Second. In fact, you can't haul more than 18 tons with 4×2 truck.
In ETS2 there are no weight scales, but I believe that roaming policemen are competent enough to know that it's illegal to haul overweight cargo with 2-axle truck. So make police give you ticket every time they see you is not the best solution, but I believe easy enough to implement.
Better solution will be just add a condition check when you try to pick a job that won't allow you to pick heavy cargo with improper truck. With this "rating system" that can be seen in video, I think it will be easy to code.

Re: SCS Blog discussion
you can haul 40tons with a 4x2, total weight of truck+trailer+load
a 6x2 will only have better weight distribution
on a 4x2 with 3 axel trailer, each axel would have 8 tones to carry
on a 6x2 with 3 axel trailer, each axel would have 6.6 tones to carry
