I used to think so too.
But from version to verison when I see 1000 liters left - I always see distance 3125 - on all truck what I drive. Of course maybe I wrong, but it need to be checked in code.
airbus_sai wrote:Changing it to actual average will help, but then there's zero division, and extremely small numbers will mess the dashboard formatting.
In this case it can be show "-" or something else, I don't have real truck like MP4 or Volvo to check it out.

EDIT.
Now I saw video, MAN TGX less than 20 tons cargo Russian M5 with hills - 30.9 l/100km
Same MAN, cargo 20tons - Ural mountain - 36 l/100km

In game 21 tons , Norway - 48 l/100km
Better I set consumption_coeff = 0.72

Another one video MAN TGX ~16.8 in Germany on 540 on trip.

I think the reason not many people care is that fuel is such a small expense in default economy.

Those of us that use real economy and fuel prices really notice when the fuel consumption increase as much as it has.

With my daycab 579 using MX13 500hp and 18spd I pulled a bulldozer (46k lbs) from Carson City to Kingman today, and got about 5.6mpg over a 490 mile trip, 411 on CC, and 20% coasting.
Max CC speed was set at 62.

The heavy load consumption is not terrible, but could be a wee bit better. The bigger problem is the small difference currently. Light loads and empty have to high consumption IMO.
If Allie can do up to 11mpg bobtailing then the 8.5mpg I've been able to get is far from that. Heck I don't think I've been over 9.5mpg ever, even before the change.
Max wrote:i read the twitter, so i just tried random job and got 6.8mpg (~34l/100km) with 42k (~20t) cargo (used keyboard + CC, no pedals, no extra effort)
Where did you drive and what truck? I have not been able to get over 6mpg with loads above 40k in any US truck. I can do 6.5-7mpg with the sub 20k lbs loads.
I'm not cruising fast either at 62mph, and rarely do any hard braking.

Mercedes New Actros, 510 HP engine, Allison 4500 R transmission, 6x2 taglift chassis.

Southampton - Wroclaw, 8 ton Digger 500 trailer, only highways and high speed roads, cruise control all the time, obeying speed limits, realistic fuel consumption, gamepad: 40.1 liters per 100 kilometers (5.8 miles per gallon).

A little bit too much, if you ask me.
I have approximate knowledge of many things

I saw video (Kreiss fuel duel) Mercedes MPIV New Actros - automatic gearbox + ACC - 16 ton cargo - 24.5 l/100km.

Why don't have ACC in game? ;)

This is the best description of the problem. Thanks for putting it into words.
The difference between light and heavy loads in terms of consumption feels too little

MAN TGX EURO 6 18.440 (2015) AT in real:
Poland->Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland->Poland
Avarge cargo: 20-24T (22 and 24T the most)
Speed: 80-85 (85 the most)
Avarge consumption: 24-27l/100km (and it's possible to make 22l/100km, but it's really hard)
Distance trip - about 3000-4000km

Here is consumption in half way after 2000km, in the picture I'm on german local road. With 24T.

Renault Premium 440DXi Euro 4 MT (2006):
Poland->Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, France->Poland
Avarge cargo: 20-24T (22 and 24T the most)
Speed: 80-90(90 the most)
Avarge consumption: 27-31l/100km
Distance trip - about 3000-4000km

In game? Standard 34-37l/100km (Renualt Premium 460DXI) with all eco tips. It's possible to make 30-29l/100km but it's really really hard at gamepad or stering wheel.

I've yet to see anybody post a picture with their driving results, but you're welcome to look at mine: http://mail.roundowl.tk/
That page contains data from 5 different trucks, gathered over last few days. I'd call those results diverse, and semi-realistic.

On the side note, 2 years ago I had a chat with Scania representative at the truck exhibition, and when I mentioned 25 l/100km consumption, he called this an "overly optimistic figure". Also I don't have an HGV license yet, so I'm in no way in position to argue. :D

I was debating on doing this but then i forgot to ask if there should be some similar route and cargo (and cargo weight) to use as a benchmark.

Bobtailing 579 daycab MX13 500hp from Sacramento down i5 to CA58: 426km(265mi) 25.7l/100km(9.15mpg) 80km/h(50mph) avg
This area is mostly flat as well. Cruised at 56mph so I could cruise at just above 1100rpm with the 18spd on flat road.
AFAIK cruising at that low rpm is not advised IRL. From what I understand normal cruise is 1300-1500rpm?
My experience show cruising at 1300rpm would increase consumption by 0.5-1mpg on average.

I believe Allies truck has a 10spd, so if that's using the same axle ratio as in game then doing over 60mph would mean 1300rpm or more IIRC.

Edit:
Did exact same run as before but with the 10spd, only difference was a bit less traffic so my average speed was higher.
Cruising at 56mph at around 1350rpm.
426km(265mi) 28.2l/100km(8.34mpg) 84.5kmh(52.5mph)
