Realistic Fuel Consumption Tweaked?
Realistic Fuel Consumption Tweaked?
Having finally updated to 1.26, I found that my regular truck uses a different amount of fuel than compared with 1.25 and before. In particular, the amount of fuel used when on full throttle in gears 11 and 12 seemed to have increased greatly.
What changes did SCS make to the realistic fuel coding? I'd love to know so that I can adjust my driving style accordingly. Thanks!

Here's the patch notes: http://eurotrucksimulator2.com/update/e ... notes.html. Something about rolling resistance has changed.

It has been changed, I can tell you that. Without any of the "Economic Driving", I was getting 8 MPG solid, this was hauling mainly 20-26 ton loads.
Now? I am down to 6.5 MPG with my economic driving perk maxed out, hauling the usual loads over the usual distances. So something has certainly been "Tweaked", and not for the better.

My current model DAF XF has a MPG of 6.0 with the new 6-speed transmission (no retarder). I already wondered if it's the transmission lol

Re: Realistic Fuel Consumption Tweaked?
Thanks, guys. Now I don't feel so stupid any more. Me too, I noticed an increase of an average 3 to 8 liters on three axles. An increase in rolling resistance would do just that. Actualy, the resulting consumption, especially in the Volvo classic, seems more realistic to me now.
Remember, we have these economic driving skill points, but if you have all 6 of them and then drive economically like in real life, you actually get the benefit twice. Your actual driving and shifting style in the Sim still has an impact on your consumption.

Although it changed automatic driving fuel consumption unlike reality... 30-31 over 25 tonnes of load turned into 40-41 over lesser loads...

What I know, the ecodriving perk only has an effect if you have the realistic fuel consumption off.
Re: Realistic Fuel Consumption Tweaked?
Thanks @abasstreppas, i did not know that, looks like i should turn it off for better experience.
I am not bothered by the fuel costs ( I am a national company and the banks are very generous )
Cheers

Thanks for the replies. I just burned over 300 litres of fuel on a 10 hour 30 minute job through mostly rural roads in France. With the rest allowance being tight, I was heavy on the throttle to get the speed back up again after passing through speed restricted villages.
But...300 litres I shall need to pick my jobs more carefully now.

Hey, it's peanuts compared to what the driver costs you
Besides, I wouldn't recommend to drive at speed limit in France all the time. Neither advisable nor realistic. So there's another instance where you can save a liter or two. More times than not it doesn't pay off to accelerate between two speed restricted zones, for it earns you just a few seconds but burns you a few adittional liters. Not to mention the additional wear on your engine and the tires. Looks like pea counting, but really adds up.
