"Automatic" functions in truck settings

#1 Post by S7R4N63R » 29 Apr 2017 10:58

How many "automatic" functions in truck settings(Automatic retarder, automatic engine brake, automatic engine and electricity start, automatic drop of liftable axles, automatic blinker off) exist in real life trucks?

the options are not representing the real life truck, there are there so beginners can start easy with the game and turn of these option if they are more confident in their driving

Some trucks have auxiliary brakes that activate with service brake activation - retarder brakes are probably the most common. Auto blinker off is I believe standard on all Euro spec trucks.
Never argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Automatic retarder yes
Automatic axle lift yes for truck and trailer
Automatic gearbox yes
Automatic Cruise Controle yes
Automatic yes
Automatic return blinkers of course
Automatic clutch yes
In modern trucks you can set a lot of things on automatic, it's the driver or company who decides which automatic options they can choose.

In the older days truckdrivers had a hard life on a old truck, older drivers got a worn knee from the clutch, heavy noises and no airco, no retarder.
Nowadays truckdrivers can do their job much longer with all the new and automatic futures and it cost the company less money for a sickness benefit.

Some truck drivers don't want all that modern stuff but when they driven a truck with all those modern stuff they won't go back, but this is a simulator and you can do every automatic or manual it's up to you.

@Grimples:
You must have a transmission with a retarder, otherwise you won't experience the difference.

On new modern trucks the retarder, engine brake and exaust brake it is not possible to operate them manualy.
The computer in the trucks contols all the brake movements. The driver needs only push on the brake paddle.

Personal I don't use the manual controls of the retarder or engine brake. I set them on automatic. As in real life.

Retarder also keeps your set cruise speed going downhill.
