there are two solutions for now: get older drivers or use opengl.
Thanks for taking a look, but another person with the new graphics driver confirmed that it works fine on his pc. I think it's Windows 8 that is messing up something because nothing is wrong with the specs, drivers and directx. I guess I'll try to install Windows 7.
He has both *exactly* the same graphics card and the same driver but Windows 7 instead of Windows 8?
That is what I think, but I have't asked the person if he/she has Windows 7.

It definitely is, but my older graphics driver gave me a ram issue. It was solved by updating the driver.

Non-paged pool was 5GB in idle state out of 8GB, now it is about 250MB which is normal.

There are a total of 4 WHQL drivers going back to January this year. Have you tried all of them? Or maybe even the Beta drivers, of which there are 6 going back to Dec 2012?

Finally found a post about this.

I have the same issue (gt550M). It was running fine before when all of a sudden it crashes everytime i try to run it through dx. Now i can only play through GL.

I tried prev nvidia driver, but not that further back. So might wanna try that after this.
UPDATE: Tried installing nvidia's 314.22 ver. It worked... for me at least.

I have the same problem...
The only way I can make it work is to right click and run it though the integrated GPU!!! ;)

Hi guys,

Just a bit of information for you.

My game was running fine, up until yesterday. I have traced the problem back to the latest NVIDIA drivers (320.18), as now neither my standalone copy, or the copy I purchased on Steam, will work; unless I run them in OpenGL.

My graphics card is an NVIDIA 555M, which normally runs the game fine, totally maxed out.

As previously stated, the best bet for now is to use an older set of drivers.

I wouldn't be surprised if a newer version for the drivers generates problems, even crashes.
Just an example, last week (if I'm not mistaking) there was an adobe flash automatic update. For a few days almost all flash apps in firefox were crashing on a regular basis, until I went to their website and downloaded the installer and ran the installation again.
Sh*t happens in the world of software, too! :D
