1.27 poor core optimization?
1.27 poor core optimization?
Hey SCS, what have you done with 1.27? My core1 is running @ 95-100% load all the time, while all other cores are @ 15-20%, 4th core is dropping to 0% usage all the time. I rolled back to 1.26 to show you that there was no problem with core usage, this issue came with 1.27, whats happening?

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
I got almost same result with an FX-6100 but in my case:
1.27
Core 1 at 100%
Core 4 at 40-50%
Cores 2 3 5 and 6 at around 0-20%
Overall usage ~30% via MSI afterburner
1.26
Cores 1 and 4 at 40-50%
Core 6 at 50-80%
Cores 2, 3 and 5 0-25%
Overall usage ~30% via MSI afterburner
Will ask if this is intended.
But as the overall usage remain the same, and there is no visible problem at performance level i don`t see any problem in the situation.

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
I'm having massive fps drops with 1.27, my gpu utilization never goes higher then 50-60%, while core1 stays at 90-100%.
Just to show you how bad performance is, i chose Rotterdam-Europort-Rotterdam road with g_traffic 1 and bench it, here are the results:
1.26 Avg: 58.157 - Min: 33 - Max: 81
1.27 Avg: 25.166 - Min: 9 - Max: 57
As you can see, my avarage fps with 1.27 update is extremely low, game becomes almost unplayable. I really hope you can forward this issue to developers.
P.S. i was trying 1.27 while it was in "open beta" and there was no problems with it, everything was smooth like in 1.26

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
Here's the odd thing, in both closed and open beta, my FPS was higher than what we got in this final public release. I was constantly around 58-60FPS except in cities where it would drop to around 45fps. (Still I huge improvement over 1.26)
But in public I see that my FPS is closer to a constant 45FPS everywhere. I don't know what changes between Beta and public, but something clearly did.

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
There was no performance related change between the open beta and the final version.
About the core usage between 1.26 and 1.27. We locked the main thread to the first core while previously it was moved between them by the OS. The total usage should remain the same, it is just spread differently. Unless there is something else fighting for the same core or some thermal issues which would be triggered by 100% usage, the performance should not change.

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
We need something like they use in flight sims forums a chart where someone indicates the type of cpu or gpu they is being used because then it be easier to see if it program or just weak cpu, or gpu being used.
The fps is always subjective to me as some are good with 30 fps and others want 144fps or more. It's stuttering really more concerned about anyways.

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
Well that is really odd then as I sure notice a difference FPS wise.Komat wrote:There was no performance related change between the open beta and the final version.
Edit: Okay colour me embarrassed. There was an external cause dropping the FPS compared to open beta. It was Riva Tuner and my OSD statistics that I turned on to check CPU/GPU usage.

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
update: same route as before, same graphics settings, same in-game time
1.27 - Avg: 65.735 - Min: 41 - Max: 85
Peformance has returned, i didn't do anything, the only idea that comes in my mind is that some process was trying to use core1 together with ETS2 and i didnt get full power from that core in ETS2.
Thanks everyone for replies and clarifications on a new core utilization, i'm not sure that this was a good idea to lock everything on a single core, because people might expect same troubles as me if something else is using core1 besides ETS2, but you guys know better what you are doing, so i guess it's fine
Have a nice day/night

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
@Komat: On my side i have the same CPU overall usage as i stated above.
@Moh: I didn't get this FPS drop after final builds. I still get limited to 60FPS V-Sync outside cities and around 45-55 inside cities. Before i was at (45-60 ousitde and 30-40 inside)
@Novice: Can you take a look at Average Overall CPU usage in both versions?
It's not a perfect solution, but for sure it's WAY better than default setup from FS, that uses 100% core1 and leave all others at almost 0% level
HAPPY EDIT: @novice: good to know you got back on the track!

I know well about what you are talking we call it "Core Affinity Mask" it's some kind of binary trick that tells Flight Simulator how many cores we have and force the FS to distribute the processing power between all set cores.angrybirdseller wrote:We need something like they use in flight sims forums.

Re: 1.27 poor core optimization?
@TarsoMagno on both versions my overall cpu load is the same, about 35-45%
