Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Steam has stopped working

Hello all,

I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out what is causing my Euro Truck Simulator to stop working. Any advice would be much appreciated!

System Specs:
Windows Vista
Intel Core i7-2600 3.4ghz CPU
8GB Memory
NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 w/ 1.5gb Memory

Problem Description:
I own a copy of ETS2 on Steam. I cannot say what caused this problem to start. I have been playing this game for months without problems. I last loaded the game successfully about 8 hours ago and played. I closed it as normal and now, when I start the game, it plays the SCS Software introduction screen for about 3 seconds before crashing and popping up a window that says "Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Steam has Stopped Working" then closes the game. During that time, I did not install any new hardware or software and no system update was run. I just had the computer sitting in the office as I normally do. I have not installed any mods to the base game. I tried a clean reboot of my system and ran the game again, with the same result. I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it and that didn't solve the problem. Using the Steam options, I also tried loading the game using the "Launch with DX," "Launch with OpenGL," and "Launch in Safe Mode" options with the same issue each time.

I don't know if this problem has to do with Steam or with ETS2, but all of my other Steam games are working properly at this time. I appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

This is caused by the beta version of the Steam client. You need to opt-out of the beta until Valve fixes that.

Edit: It seems that they already fixed the client.
