ETS2 DLC (Going East) Competition

#1 Post by MADxMAX » 26 Aug 2013 02:10

As the subject of this thread suggests, my forums is giving away a free copy of the Going East DLC, it is a screenshot competition, and 1 lucky winner will receive the activation code once the competition closes at Midnight September 18th, 2013, members are allowed to submit 3 screenshots, the entries have to be submitted by Midnight on the 18th Sept 2013 ( UK Time ), a poll will then be started with a public vote and each members name will be added and the member with the highest amount of vote wins ( yes it is this simple )

Does the screenshot have a minimum size limit?

Ah that's a very good question. I forgot to think about that.

I don't think my entries will win because my taste is too bland. It's too boring for most people.

No there is no screenshot size limit, the forum software will automatically change it to the default forum size.

I think that the code should work on both versions of the game, but I will check with SCS regarding this and get back to you, but if the winner is using 1 version or the other the code will be purchased for the version of the game they are using.

Well this is up to you, there is no gun to your head to force you to enter, there are plenty of people out there that might not be able to afford the DLC and they can enter for free of charge and might even win.

Of course. It doesn't obligate one not to buy afterward anyway or even before. It only means if you win you will have one more copy :P

I am not entering, i am not even going to click the link because i disagree with the "purpose" of this thread but i would just like to point out that from a competition standpoint, re-sizing images to some arbitrary size format is a big nono IMHO.
So unless the images full size (and unaltered) data is available the competition becomes a meta game. Who can provide the best screenshot that re-sizes well on your forums.

I am not going to go into any more details than that. Just saying it matters.
On extended hiatus.

The forums software does not actually change the size of the images, it just put it into a thumbnail and when it is clicked on it will go to the size the member uploaded it to, we do not change the format of the images, but all images have to be in jpg format as these are often smaller and easier to load for members with slower internet connections to view, too many .png for example can often slow down a thread or at worse the entire site, we are not the only truck modding community forums that has this rule, Truckpol with over 50thosand member also have this rule

What ever file size you upload it will stay the same, it will say it has been resized to say 60% of the original size until it is clicked on then it will load the full size image that was originally uploaded, the competition is not about whose images will look best re-sized on the forums, after all every single entry will be listed for a public vote, the highest voted screenshot wins, each member of the forums is entitled to a single vote, and only a single vote, multiple accounts are not allowed and will in fact gain that member a instant ban from the competition and the forums

They should have two categories. One for the professional "photoshop" experts and modders and one for us mere mortals
