AyMazingATS (on Steam) has given me some stern but helpful advice. Even though my mods were not flagged with red dots and loaded apparently OK, AyMazingATS says they are way obsolete and probably causing the problem. So I'll remove them, see if that fixes the problem, then try updating/fixing them.

All those major changes they are doing in the background like the ones with sound, with lighting... When most of those changes were done and we all could have way better game performance, VR will benefit for that too but also would be the moment for SCS to decide if they want to truly expand on VR ...

If the VR port were really finished, you could just reach out and grab the thing and move it :-) One problem with moving it is, of course it thinks it's flatscreen so you can't tilt it for a nice viewing angle after relocating upwards, downwards, to one side.
