16gb is definitely enough to run game.
but amount of ram in not sole factor. as mentioned above, page file (in general should be left with default system settings) or overall system state (how much stuff runs in background etc.) does plays role.

afaik... it is. but i do not know for what exactly. im not coder. and this is down to guys working on engine and handling all this memory logic.
so good chance you know more than i do when it come to v.m.

well why not ? OS is designed to work with virtual memory. its a vital part of its working. and it's not recommended for user to toy with its settings. but as anyone can change it, its good to know what was state of v.m. for troubleshooting reasons.

you have 6gb ram which should be fine.. but when you are starting game only 2.2 is free for game to work with. and that is not enough.
you need to free more memory before you start game.

you ran out of memory. you have 8gb which is fine but depending on what else is running on your system you ended up with not enough for prolonged session.
try to limit number of applications in background to increase available memory before starting game.

we do not know for sure. but its probable that cause is within game engine.
this also could be caused by memory error.
