Gamepad + Mouse for steering

#1 Post by davidzoli » 11 Aug 2014 11:45

After I have been playing over 200 hours with keyboard and mouse steering. Some times ago I got a gamepad.
I tried get used to steering with thumbs, but I can't learn to steering such a smooth way as with the mouse. But I like the button positions (not in rows like the keyboard) and the analog input some cases (throttle and brake).

So I started to think some hybrid control. Now my left hand operates a gamepad laying in the desk, and my right operates a mouse for steering (and others).

How to do it?
1. Just config like you want to use a gamepad.
2. "Exit" to the profile switcher
3. Alt+Tab and get to your profile folder (User/Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/profiles/XXXXXXX/)
4. Make a backup of your control.sii file
5. Edit your control.sii file
Find

Code: Select all

 config_lines[35]: "constant c_mousesteer 0.000000"
 config_lines[36]: "constant c_mousepedal 0.000000"
 config_lines[37]: "constant c_mped_dz 0.200000"
 config_lines[38]: "constant c_relatsteer 1.000000"
And change the c_mousesteer to 1, and the c_relatsteer to 0

Code: Select all

config_lines[35]: "constant c_mousesteer 1.000000"
 config_lines[36]: "constant c_mousepedal 0.000000"
 config_lines[37]: "constant c_mped_dz 0.200000"
 config_lines[38]: "constant c_relatsteer 0.000000"
6. Get back to game and start driving
7. Now you can steering with mouse instead of using that for viewing around.

That's all :)

Note that if you modify your controls, the game overwrite the modified values. So you have to do it again.

Edit:
Of course the keyboard will be operate as before. You can reach all the function from keyboard too.

With a simple mouse. It consists of two buttons and rollers in between

Your way to configure additional configuration click the "keyboard + gamepad".

Thus, using the mouse wheel to drive.
Also assign buttons on the mouse will perform later in the game, not in the file control.sii it?

Thank !

I have a problem. And I've found a way to settle here. It is this:

I am a player ETS2 (I was older, married) because conditions can not or do not want a steering wheel on the desktop (as well as desks to work)
Just wanted to add pedals "Clutch + Brake + Gas" located at the foot, combined with the keyboard and mouse when playing ETS2 (gearshift using the keyboard and mouse to drive).

I follow your way. Then do the pedals from the gamepad, like this: http://youtu.be/pFMHD5eqE3o

If I do not bother you, I want to talk to you more.

Thank you very much!

The core component of the pedals was a gamepad (in its earlier life)? Are you using 3 axis of that?

On the config page, can you set that?
Is that working with the game and the main problem, you can't steer?

Boy, I was about to delete that image, but you posted that a few days before the rules changed so this picture is immune.
