I tried get used to steering with thumbs, but I can't learn to steering such a smooth way as with the mouse. But I like the button positions (not in rows like the keyboard) and the analog input some cases (throttle and brake).
So I started to think some hybrid control. Now my left hand operates a gamepad laying in the desk, and my right operates a mouse for steering (and others).
How to do it?
1. Just config like you want to use a gamepad.
2. "Exit" to the profile switcher
3. Alt+Tab and get to your profile folder (User/Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/profiles/XXXXXXX/)
4. Make a backup of your control.sii file
5. Edit your control.sii file
Find
Code: Select all
config_lines[35]: "constant c_mousesteer 0.000000"
config_lines[36]: "constant c_mousepedal 0.000000"
config_lines[37]: "constant c_mped_dz 0.200000"
config_lines[38]: "constant c_relatsteer 1.000000"
Code: Select all
config_lines[35]: "constant c_mousesteer 1.000000"
config_lines[36]: "constant c_mousepedal 0.000000"
config_lines[37]: "constant c_mped_dz 0.200000"
config_lines[38]: "constant c_relatsteer 0.000000"
7. Now you can steering with mouse instead of using that for viewing around.
That's all
Note that if you modify your controls, the game overwrite the modified values. So you have to do it again.
Edit:
Of course the keyboard will be operate as before. You can reach all the function from keyboard too.
