RT= Accel
LT= Brake
RB = Elec/engine start/stop
LB = Parking brake
Y = Cruise Control
B = Shift Up
X = Shift Down
A = Horn
Right stick = move camera
Right stick press = information screen cycle
Left stick = steering
Left stick press = wipers
Dpad Up = Retarder decrease
Dpad Down = Retarder Increase
Dpad Left/Right = Signals
Back = lights cycle
Start = Main beam

Everything else I just use from keyboard as they don't get used very often (beacon = set at beginning of journey, leave until end etc). I drive using 'Real Automatic' so I could effectively get rid of the shift up/down and add new things in there, but I've been rocking this set up for a while now and quite like it.

I use a ps3 controller these days, (used to use a 360) But the button lay out is the same, and I use the same settings as I did when I had the 360 controller

Shoulder Buttons

RT Accelerate
LT Breake
RB Gear Up
LB Gear Dpwn

Face buttons

A Motor Brake
B Retarder Increase
X Retarder Decrease
Y Hazards

D-pad
Up Indicator right
Down: Indicator left
Left Lights
Right Main Beams

Sticks

Left steering (press for horn)
Right Look around (Press for Hand Brake

Start Cruise Control
Back Wipers

Everything else is confined to the keyboard which I kept pretty much default.

I have a problem with my Xbox 360 controller on ETS2.
Everything is set-up fine (the same way as most of you guys have it), but the steering doesn't work right for me. The left stick isn't recognized as a stick, but just as buttons. So when I try to steer, it's just the same as pressing a keyboard key. Moving the stick doesn't have any effect on steering faster or whatever. It's 0% or 100% steering. This is also visible in the settings menu. It doesn't show an increasing/decreasing yellow line (like with the triggers for accelerating and braking). Instead it shows a yellow bar on the left, when moving the stick to left and the same for the right. Doesn't matter how much I move the stick.
When using the controller in other programs it works fine (for example when using it as a mouse, via Xpadder. The mouse only moves a little, when moving the stick just a little).

I'm using Windows 8 and updated ETS2 Steam.

I hope someone can help me.

Have you set the stick up as an axism under Controllers in the game.?

Also is it a Microsoft Xbox 360 controller? Some 3rd party 360 controllers don't work correctly on PC, or may not be recognised correctly by the game.

Under games (in windows) go in to controller propertiesm, and make sure everything is functioning as it should. The sticks/triggers should both be recognised as axis.

Thanks, for some reason it wasn't set-up right in Windows. I set it to standard settings, and it works perfect!

Out of curiosity what does everyone have the steering sensitivity set on?

Reason I ask is that I find it difficult to get the wheel 'hard over' at higher speeds

@LIDLE

I had a similar situation yesterday. I decided to go back to using a joypad from a steering wheel due to spacing issues, so decided to upgrade to the XBOX One Controller rather than a XBOX360, after first connecting it and it been detected by Windows etc, the buttons wouldn't work, the L & R sticks used for steering and camera and the triggers used for throttle and brake worked fine but the dpad and all other buttons wouldn't work.

The solution for me was to use the option for a XINPUT Pad.

@LIDLE

Under the Controllers screen, in the very top drop down, I have an option for Keyboard + XInput Gamepad 1 and another option Keyboard + XBox Controller, I can only get the buttons working if I choose the first option.
