Before todays update 1.43 I never had one issue using my ps4 controller in ETS2. Everything worked wonderfully and i was enjoying the game. This afternoon 1.43 landed for me and i obviously updated.
As usual i was using the controller to navigate the menus upon starting the game after the update, everything seemed normal. clicked on drive and nothing. Controller dead basically, nothing working.
I didnt change any Settings in the game or my PC. I also never used ds4 before and it was fine. Also I have never used any mods, I play the vanilla game
Tried disabling Steam input, still nothing, downloaded and tried ds4, that was terrible to say the least, steering erratic and it felt nothing like it was before.
Can someone help please ? I thought this update was going to help inprove controller support, not make things worse.
I love the game but like this its unplayable for me now.
Thankyou

I have the same issue. Weirdly enough, the same controller works great in ETS 1.43.

Re: PS4 controller only working in menus since updating to 1.43
Okay good news - I figured it out.
The controller was working in the menu and other games, but not when I drove, so the clue for me was that maybe it wasn't mapped correctly? And I saw that SCS changed the controller mapping. I was using my own custom mapping for the controller. I used the Steam application to remap using the default SCS layout and the controller was working.
After this, I remapped all of my custom buttons for the PS4 Dual Shock controller. This took a time, but, that's okay. I was able to drive again using the controller.

If you are using steam input, you will probably have to reset your configuration to the "new" SCS default, that added the ui layer.
If you are not using steam input (the controllers work without steam) you can try to reset the 'keys and buttons' and reset 'controls' in options, then select from the combobox 'keyboard + xinput' and after that the big gray button 'Quick setup of the gamepad or steering wheel' under it. (this should fix the "erratic" in-game controlls with controller without steam input)
