Is not a very difficult task, almost everyone can do it.
Adapting mechanically the Scania knob
There is a "little" diameter difference between the pieces. I've bought a piece of nylon with 20mm diameter and 80mm length. I made an 8mm hole on one face (35mm).
For me the adjustment was perfect (no gap).

Electronic adaptation is easy too, just solder the wires.

To connect the knob on the pc the best/secure/easy way is: buy a generic joypad/joystick and disassemble it. (google it, you will find many videos explaining how to find the correct points to solder)
From this point forward is also used to button panel.

Then, solder the wires and test, test test. (knob splitters up = buttons off, knob splitters down = buttons on)

After all be working properly is time to set in game.
Knob buttons to up and start the game. In settings set as gear select 1 and gear select 2. Exit the game.
Open controls.sii (Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\), search for "gearsel1tgl", copy the command (for me joy.b5?0), paste it in gearsel1off and in gearsel1on paste and add ! in front (!joy.b5?0). Made de same for gearsel2.
