Crash in Controls with SPEEDLINK DRIFT O.Z.

#1 Post by Bluscream » 04 Jul 2016 19:40

Hey, today i buyed a SPEEDLINK DRIFT O.Z. Racing Wheel. After plugging in the wheel and starting the game i tried to change controller options like Force Feedback my game just crashed.

I already spent > 8 hours to find a proper solution.

BTW: I tried everything with all three modes (dx/Gl/safe)

If i change the input to XInput the game recognizes two devices; a generic controller and a XBOX controller.
If i use the XBOX controller the pedals are not working at all.
If i use the generic one, the amount of usable keys are so low, i can't even use the shoulderbuttons as indicators cause they are having the same functionality as the pedals (Cause it's emulating a XBOX controller which does not have much buttons at all.) Here is a picture for your understanding.

If i change to DirectInput mode i can bind all buttons with different things but as soon as i go to controller settings and Force Feedback is enabled the game crashes.

Things i tried (exclusivly and together):
  • Deleting "config.cfg", "controls.sii", "gearbox_range.sii", "gearbox_range_splitter.sii" and "gearbox_splitter.sii" from my profiles folder.
  • Deleting "config.cfg" from my -homedir.
  • Moving all bin/plugins to another drive.
  • Installing the driver sent with the wheel.
  • Installing a driver from the webz.
  • Removing all savegames from the 'saves' folder and starting a new save.
  • Starting the game as admin.
I probably missed something i already did too, if i remember i will update the post.

What prevented the crash (i only tested that one time) for me was removing all profiles and starting from the beginning with a new (unconnected profile) but starting over is not what i want.

Thank you for any help :)

Code: Select all

Fault address: 0000000010002423 0001:00001423 C:\Windows\USB_Vibration\3352\EZFRD64.DLL
It's a problem with the drivers for the wheel, not the game.
Looks like the same problem was encountered here several times before with replies from devs themselves, so you could have found it with a quick search:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=176687

Doesn't look like a solution was found. Basically, find better drivers, or buy a better/more reputed wheel.

If it test several (force feedback) settings with the driver software everything works perfectly: Screenshot

Also external Force Feedback test tools (FFBInspector, ForceTest, ForceFeedbackToolkit) work perfectly fine for me: Screenshot

Code: Select all

Enumerated Joystick : DRIFT O.Z.
Supported Effects :
   - Constant
   - Ramp Force
   - Square Wave
   - Sine Wave
   - Triangle Wave
   - Sawtooth Up Wave
   - Sawtooth Down Wave
   - Spring
   - Damper
   - Inertia
   - Friction
   - CustomForce

Creating effects for DRIFT O.Z.
BTW. The wheel works perfectly fine in games like: Drift 1-3, Trackmania 1 & 2 and some others.

At that price, none.

These days, the Thrustmaster T150 is the minimum I'd consider, if you're talking "new only".
Lots more discussion about this topic in viewforum.php?f=109

You may want to consider a gamepad, or try Mouse Steering, if you cant get your wheel to work, and unwilling to part with the required cash.

Any news on this? I saw some note in the changelog about "Force Feedback Improvements" but my issue is still there in 1.28

If anyone is able to dig into this i'm using http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/KEYBOA ... r-10.shtml <- that driver on a completely new profile and as soon as i pick my start city > crash
