TH8A shifter for real automatic transmission

Hey,

I'm planning on buying TH8A and I'm wondering if it can be used for a real automatic transmission as well (apart from standard h-pattern usage). e.g. map third gear to drive, neutral stick position to neutral and fourth gear to reverse. Anyone tried it like that?

Yes, works fine. Just map the locations you want for drive and reverse. I used 3/4 initially, then changed to 1/2, since most autos require to make some extra motion to allow the lever to move -- either push a button or move the stick in a gate.
