ETS2 is fully compatible with Windows 8. Trust me.

Re: Couple questions - New computer
@Adrian Everything that worked on 7, seems to work on 8. I'm using windows 8, the game works fine Although if you have windows 7, and are happy with it, don't bother. imo the only difference is the new start menu (which isn't as good as the old one), and the fact it will run mobile style apps, for tablets that run it. I upgraded to 8, from 7 because I had no choice. But if you have a choice, don't bother It also seems to run a little faster at times, boots a bit faster etc, but nothing major, worth the price, or the hassle of the upgrade. Its certainly not as big of an upgrade as 7 was, over vista, or xp over the windows 9x os's.
Re: Couple questions - New computer
ETS2 is specifically stated as compatible with Windows 8 on the ETS2 homepage:

But as for upgrading to Windows 8, if you have Win XP then maybe worth investing, if only for peace of mind over security updates (which probably for a home user are fairly low risk anyway). But if you have 7 already then (as onion says) it really isn't worth the $$ or the hassle unless you have a touchscreen.

Thanks for the info guys the new computer I has in mind would be touchscreen anyway ,there's not too many tower and monitor combos out there these days was also looking at it for the new Assassins Creed ( Unity) when it comes out but strongly suspect it will be the old story about getting a video card to play it which usually costs more than the game to start with although the specs haven't been released yet so I might be wrong

Re: Couple questions - New computer
If your looking at it for gaming, Adrian you want at least a Geforce GTX 750ti, to make sure you have no issues. I built a new pc a few months back, cost me about 400 in total, for the tower, although I just use my old Monitor. It's alright, but, the Geforce GTX650 I put in it is definitely not going to last. It's going to struggle a lot with Watchdogs, and in turn newer games, although I should get away witn AC unity on it. Assassins Creed games, generally aren;t that demanding. I'm probably just going to get a PS4 for newer games, it's easier, plus a lot of exclusives come out on consoles. I really don't have the money, or the willing to spend on a decent gaming pc, and a PS4 will run any game better than this thing.

Re: Couple questions - New computer
Is there a particular need for it to be a notebook? Neither of those two specs are particularly convincing for gaming - in fact they're pretty weak.

Re: Couple questions - New computer
Not to mention, laptops and notebooks are not all that great for gaming anyway. If you want good performance, get a desktop. I think that even one with the same specs would be better. (But those specs are still pretty weak for gaming.)
