I have been playing only a few days and installed a couple of truck mods. They show in my mod list but I cannot find them in game. I guess I am still to low level to choose them for my truck?

First off, welcome to the forum.
However, a little piece of advice - you need to wait more like 2 days rather than 2 hours for a response; almost everyone on this forum is here voluntarily and not paid for it, and aren't looking through it 24 hours a day.
That said; yes, having such a very very old version 1.1.1 is your problem - this feature was only added in a later version (1.3 I think?), and we're now on 1.8.2.5.
Try upgrading to the latest version:
