How can I tell I am running on 64 bit using the retail version, as when I downloaded the update it didn't give me an option for 32 or 64 bit.

@ yozza, If you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\win_x64 and then right click the eurotrucks2.exe and "Create Desktop Shortcut" then you will know you are always launching the 64bit version.
(also you can add the -nointro launch parameter to the shortcut )

It works, maybe for the retail version, for the steam it won't this way. I made it work if I add -64bit switch to the exe or if I manually launch it specifying that I want the 64bit (Direct 3D) run.

Not sure if the 64 bit version tells at the launchpad if you are running it.
Top left of my screen, in the launchpad shows version number, 1.19.19(32bit), exactly like that, possibly 64 bit would do the same.
I'm hoping my C Drive will begin to fail soon, so I have a forced upgrade to 64 bit operating system.

For now, I won't be using the x64 version as it's incompatible with ETS2MP; which is unfortunate, but it happens. I don't personally see the advantage of ETS2 getting more memory unless you plan to load the entire 4.6GB game into ram before launching it..
at the end of the day, it will still clean the memory of bits of map and prefabs/buildings/businesses that aren't being used (due to being too far away).
Now my virtual machines on the other hand.........
