[TIME] All about time scales, and in-game and real times

#1 Post by MearGeorge » 22 Apr 2015 11:24

This thread may be used as a reference for the time scales, as well as any calculations regarding both in-game and real times.

Time scales
Within cities
1:3 (1 min in-game = 20 sec real)

Rest stations
1:3 (1 min in-game = 20 sec real)

Outside cities in the UK
1:15 (1 min in-game = 4 sec real)

Outside cities in mainland Europe
1:19 (1 min in-game = 3.158 sec real apprx.)

Average speed that should be maintained during any jobs
Just under 40 mph (38.4) or just over 60 kph (61.8)
These values are calculated from the "ETA" information on the route helper panel.

Time/distance changes using ports and the eurotunnel
Calais to Dover >> Port
1:31
30 mi/49 km

Calais to Folkestone (Dover) >> Eurotunnel
0:35
37 mi/60 km

Europoort (Rotterdam) to Harwich (Felixstowe)
8:00
128 mi/207 km

Europoort (Rotterdam) to Hull (Grimsby)
11:00
229 mi/370 km

IJmuiden (Amsterdam) to Tyne (Newcastle)

This'll be handy. Though I know the Eurotunnel is faster than the ferry I first read it as 35 seconds!

But many thanks.

So how can i calculate how long a delivery in game will take me in real-time or at least approximate it?

You don't as you have approx delivery time in the GPS window (use F3 to toggle)

Do you know if these time scales are linear wrt distance travelled.
That is outside UK cities travelling at say 60km/hr, ie 1 Km/minute do you actually travel "1 km of ETS2 roads" in 4 seconds real time?
So is there any relationship between distance and the time travelled?

yes
Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

Hi.
Does someone know why the time/distance compression of 1/19 was selected?
1/15 for UK seems kind of logical, but why not 1/20 for the rest?
Did they throw dice and look at the outcome?
Inquiring minds want to know. Thks for any light on this.
