How to transform my copy in a STEAM one?

#1 Post by rsitaly » 29 Oct 2013 07:54

Hello!

I have bought and downloaded ETS2 and GOING EAST from the site http://WWW.EUROTRUCKSIMULATOR2.COM ... from that site I downloaded all the patches as well, and from that site I received my activation keys (from an SCS partner I think ...).

My copy works like a charm.

I have an account on STEAM ... is there a way to "convert" my game in a STEAM version one?

I decided to do this step ( I don't like STEAM personally) because seems that SCS will use it more in the future ...

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, just use your the code given by SCS to activate the game on Steam, it will then proceed to download :)

If I understand your answer correctly I have to download the game from STEAM, uninstall my copy and install the STEAM version ... if affirmative what about my profiles? I'll loose them?

No.

The home folder stays the same. Just back them up and restore them when Steam is finished installing/checking.. whatever..
Retired, but still loving it.

I installed the Steam copy while I was playing my other copy :P
Once I was sure the Steam version was working properly, I removed the original copy.

And as stated above, the folder for saves and mods is located in the same place in both versions.

But you don't have to remove the old copy if you don't want. Steam will install it's game completely separate from the original one. They will just use the same folder for your profiles, setting and mods etc.
The old copy will still work even after you have activated and installed the steam version.
