HowTo: automatic clutch and digital clutch - no clutchpedal

#1 Post by CJoke » 14 Nov 2013 16:11

HowTo:

If you have a shifter but no clutchpedal then you need to modify
gearbox_splitter.sii
gearbox_range.sii
gearbox_range_spliter.sii

to use your shifter.

the files are found in:
..\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\YourProfileNumber

--------------------------------------------------------
for automatic clutch you just need change the line:
clutch_mode: analog
in
clutch_mode: automatic

--------------------------------------------------------
for digital clutch you just need change the line:
clutch_mode: analog
in
clutch_mode: digital

and you have to open controls.sii in the same folder and change the line:
config_lines[150]: "mix dclutch ``"

by insert the key or button of your choice, like:
config_lines[150]: "mix dclutch `joy.b1?0`"
or
config_lines[150]: "mix dclutch `keyboard.z?0`"
--------------------------------------------------------

both clutch-modes are some kind of a hidden easter egg in ets2, it is not documented and tested by scs. ;)

I use automatic clutch and it allways works fine.

This is a very useful feature for me; I have a disability in my left leg after an accident that means using a clutch pedal is awkward for me.
Up to now I've been forced to use sequential or "real" automatic - this allows me to use the good old range-splitter again :)

However I've got a question about your "always works fine" - I find that it definitely doesn't work for low-speed maneuvres, e.g. pulling out of junction with heavy load, if you leave it in 1st/2nd then it stalls very easily as you have no clutch to depress - similarly reversing can occasionally be tricky for the same reason. If I use neutral for junctions then it's awkward to heel-and-toe to keep the brakes on when there's an incline/decline. (I guess I could use the parking brake on the keyboard, but that feels.... wrong)

I suppose I could map one of the wheel buttons/lever to a digital clutch, but that sort of ruins the point of an automatic clutch. Besides, I like to use the levers to work the blinkers :)

Do you know of a way to fix it so that the clutch is truly automatic at a standstill/very slow speed?

I map a button to my wheel for the parking brake. you should use it every time you stop. You can rev and then release it to handle inclines as the truck rides the clutch when stationary.

edit: why is this not a tick box in the options??

if you want to use a H-Shifter then open the controler options in ets2 and configure your splitterbuttons,
and you have to choose which H-Shifter-Mode you want to use: range, splitter or range-splitter?

for more help please post your controls.sii/config_lines[150] here.

config_lines[150]: "mix dclutch `keyboard.z?0`"

So you mean I should enter the controls where to identify which key and choose for the splitter z .
