Map Editor Bug

#1 Post by Eugene » 11 Jan 2013 17:55

Map editor neither opens nor saves a map.
The problem is, my ETS2 game adress is too long, so the game reads just a part of it:

Code: Select all

00:09:39.227 : [fs] fs_open called with invalid path "ames/Euro Truck Simulator 2/map/europe.mbd" (expected absolute path, starting with slash)
00:09:39.227 : Error loading map ames/Euro Truck Simulator 2/map/europe.mbd
As you can see, the adress starts with ames/Euro Truck Simulator 2....bla bla, while it should start something like this: D:/Games/Euro Truck Simulator....
Exactly the same thing happens in Scania TDS game.

I hope there's something you could do about it, thanks.

Is this still a problem in the latest version?

Could you post the full string for the location? I mean, post the whole text line for the directory location, so we can see at which character it cuts off.

Game reads this
ames/Euro Truck Simulator 2/map/europe.mbd

Full should be
D:/Games/Euro Truck Simulator 2/map/europe.mbd

Maybe there's a character amount limitation, although "C:\Program Files\" is definitely longer than "D:\Games\"
Or... "/G" already means something for the game, if found in a string, and it ignores everything before? That's also highly improbable...
Retired, but still loving it.

Thanks! We'll see what the devs say about this. Sounds exactly what ohaha said(/g starting a new line or deleting previous text), but let's hear it from them.

Reminds my of something I've read in a different forum a while ago. And I can't tell for which game of SCS it was.

But there was also problem with another drive, and a changed directory name.

My be the engine somewhere relies on directories like

X:\Program Files\Euro Truck Simulator 2 (on 32bit systems)
X:\Program Files (x86)\Euro Truck Simulator 2 (on 64bit systems)

The above strings "\Program Files\" and "\Program Files (x86)\" also reflect some window system variables, if I remember that correctly. May be these are used somewhere, and "Euro Truck Simulator 2" is attached to such a variable?

Just had this problem too. I think it's Q&A worthy.

Mine reads .."rogram Files/Euro Truck Simulator 2/map/europe.mbd". Right one: "C:/Program Files/Euro Truck Simualator 2/map/europe.mbd".

my game is at
F:\SCS\Euro Truck Simulator 2\

i unpack base.scs copy at
F:\SCS\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bak\base.scs

europe.mbd thus ends up at (when unpacked):
F:\SCS\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bak\base\map\europe.mbd

i can load europe.mbd with no problems into the editor

if i am playing with the editor and i want to save, i use
F:\SCS\Euro Truck Simulator 2\base\map\map_name.mbd

could the key being "map\map_name.mdb" must have some other folder name/s bitween it and "X:\\\Euro Truck Simulator 2\"

i.e.
"X:\\\Euro Truck Simulator 2\map\map_name.mdb" is bad
"X:\\\Euro Truck Simulator 2\folder name here like base\map\map_name.mdb" is good

it's only a guess mind! ;)
