On the other hand you need to see the car in the mirror/s but NOT the driver in it too.

It’s like the shadows etc being missing from the mirrors also as well as distant objects, its so the game runs efficiently without the need to add for what is the most part extraneous detail that is hardly visible at the resolution the mirrors are at.

Just think of is as a trade-off between detail vs. performance which is common in lots of similar games.

I think this was reported on Q&A and the answer was related to game performance - lightens the load on the graphics.
