American internet radios - links to streams

#1 Post by Michal » 08 Nov 2013 13:49

Here you can participate on research. We are interested in well known american internet radio stations which should appear in American Truck Simulator. Feel free to add links to this forum.

I already posted that one in "Suggest a radio stream", but I want that one in ATS very much and it seems popular. :)

Code: Select all

stream_data[]: "http://2353.live.streamtheworld.com:80/WDRVFM_SC|WDRV - The Drive (128k) (Chicago, IL, USA - EN_US)"
Radio station from Chicago, Illinois. Plays great classic rock. http://wdrv.com

This is sort of related. I think what ETS2 needs is a board/blog posting for "standard" radio streams. Otherwise, individual custom edits will get out of hand. There are around 200 entries to start with. I have found some radio streams for the US that don't work due to specialized application formats. I had a fruitless search on European traffic advisory radio streams. But, I did find the following (sorry, it's all English language):

stream_data[]: "http://podcasts.euronewsradio.com/media ... s.mp3|Euro News (English)"
stream_data[]: "http://podcasts.euronewsradio.com/media ... s.mp3|Euro News Business (English)"
stream_data[]: "http://podcasts.euronewsradio.com/media ... 0.mp3|Euro News Sports (English)"
stream_data[]: "http://podcasts.euronewsradio.com/media ... T.mp3|Euro News High Tech (English)"

I found a list of podcasts on The Weather Channel that will give you actual current weather forecasts for 22 US cities. But... (You knew there was a "but" coming, didn't you?) They are all single 60 to 90 second .MP3 files. So unless you set up your live_streams.sii file as a playlist that plays MP3 files one at a time, these probably won't be of much use to you. I also have no idea if or when TWC will discontinue or completely change the format of these podcasts. But I've tested them in the game and they do work.

It would be kind of cool if SCS could come up with a way to trigger a specific stream when you enter a specific area (if they haven't already), because then you could specify these links for the cities they are made for.

This took a lot of work on your part. I've trashed my day trying to find audio links that are not tied to specific applications. Thanks.
