All you have to do is when you create your skin .png what ever you want to be metallic should be transparent then add these lines to your .sii file so it looks some thing like this:

SiiNunit
{
accessory_paint_job_data : ?????.man.tgx.paint_job
{
name: "?????"
price: 0
unlock: 0

base_color_locked : false
airbrush : true
stock : false

base_color : (0.0723, 0.0091, 0.7722)
icon: "?????"
paint_job_mask: "/vehicle/truck/upgrade/paintjob/?????"

flipflake : true

flip_color : (0.0055, 0.0614, 0.7515)
flake_color: (0.6801, 0.7172, 0.8575)

flip_strength: 1.7
flake_uvscale : 48.0
flake_density : 1.0
flake_shininess : 20.0
flake_clearcoat_rolloff : 4.5
flake_noise: "/material/custom/flake_noise.tobj"

base_color_locked: false
flip_color_locked: false
flake_color_locked: false

alternate_uvset: false}
}

Thanks, I have been looking for this info for a while. I see you said .png, do you have to convert that to a .dds? Or do you just point your .tobj file to the .png?

I was actually going to try this option but I didn't think ETS2 would use .png files.

I believe ETS2 Studio will take .png files and it converts them for you. But I do tend to convert them to .dds files as the software I use makes them smaller.

When it comes to DDS, smaller means less quality. I am not saying the DDS library used in E2S is good but no matter if you use E2S or a professional plugin such as NVidia DDS tools for Photoshop the file sizes stay the same for the DXT5 format.

But, you can compress the DDS files in the mod archive. IIRC, we made ETS 2 Studio do this as well.
On extended hiatus.
