Distance Based Achievements

#1 Post by supersobes » 16 Jul 2020 02:39

I was wondering if anyone knows how the progress for distance based World of Trucks achievements such as "Journey to the Moon" and "The Longest Journey" are calculated. Is it done by the predicted length of the trip you take or by the actual distance driven? For example, if you take a World of Trucks contract and the game map says the route length is 100 miles, but deviate from the route and end up driving 150 miles, does 100 miles or 150 miles get added to your progress on these distance based achievements?

I've always assumed that like the other WoT achievements it uses the initial route length.

WoT servers are feed with the report of the job when finished and that states the expected distance to be driven, not the real one we finally did for whatever reason.

I think it's based on the overall distance driven by you, because if you take a detour by any reason and end up driving a bit more than the calculated distance for the job, it's unfair that the whole extra path you traveled is not counted in the end.

WoTr has the road distance on its servers, the only signal the server gets is player finished job, all other information are taken from the server then, wich means the job distance, so if you drive 500 miles more ? WoTr doesnt care you only get the first 500 miles accounted to the achievement, same goes the other way around, in ETS2 you can shorten jobs by taking the ferry between the Scandinavian countries and the Baltics, your job is 700km, but you make it in 200 because of ferries, WoTr will use the 700 still

same goes for the Steam Achievements, i once took a job that was 50 miles short of 1000 miles to get the achievement, so i mad a 50 miles detour but the achievement never unlocked for me

Put in another way, if you get paid by distance do you earn more if you take a detour :D
Sorry, out of office
