American truck sim steering

#1 Post by thunderhawk09 » 03 Feb 2016 01:00

Well I see they carried over the crapy steering from euro truck where you cant get a full steer on turns unless your dam near stopped that's bull I drove for 16 years that don't happen at that speed you cant take off from A intersection and get enough speed up to cause that kind of drift and its a pain in the a*& and should have been eliminated in euro truck

I agree, it's a major PITA. You see folks using steering wheels and they can take the corners at realistic speeds of 15mph. Where as us game-pad folk are stuck having to do granny turns.

Here is the current system: [ external image ]

As you can see, wheel rate gradually slows, until it drops off to almost 0.

What we need is something like this: [ external image ]

Wheel rate gradually slows is linear and predictable.

Of course this is at full lock on the joystick though. If the user lets off the stick it should slow the rate to almost nothing.

There is a mod that helps this a lot but it reduces "steering feel" and predictability on freeways at higher speeds.

Well where is the mod. I have a steering wheel and I have tried every setting I could do, but it doesn't help at all. I have run over everything that possibly be run over in this game. And I refuse to use keyboard or joystick for a driving game. Thats not very realistic if you don't use a wheel. I never played any console game so that console devise id out of the question also. But I would love to have the mod. If it works for wheel users..
