CAPITAL CITY: SALT LAKE CITY
more about cities later on

Utah is a state known for its wide open spaces, towering mountain ranges and its monumental cliff-like mountains. the state is mostly desert with some very extreme elevation changes, including snow capped mountains. some mountains can be seen from up to 100 miles away on a clear day. most of the interstates however follow the flat open valleys through the state

what you see when entering Utah from Nevada (I-80)

current welcome sign entering from Nevada, just past the last picture is this sign

UTAH GEOGRAPHICAL INFO: "NOT ANOTHER DESERT STATE!"
(its another desert state)

but look at this
[ external image ]
the open road awaits!

very hot and dry in the summer and freezing and snow covered in the winter

THE GENERAL OVERVIEW

[ external image ]

lets start in the north west corner of the state

The Great Salt Flat

this is an area that is steam roller flat. this is probably one of the flattest land surfaces in the entire USA
[ external image ]

this is a very well defined geographical feature made out of a dried up lake. the main road here is I-80, a single track train line just south of I-80. the ground is white like snow and reflective like water, however in the summer there is no snow here but the salt gives it that white shine. there are a few flood levees along the highway to keep any flood waters away from the road, these levees are only a few feet high from the ground and you can still see over them in to the vast nothingness. I-80 crosses the Salt Flat between exit 2 in Wendover Utah and exit 41 west of Aragonite Utah. that is about 40 miles of flat nothingness (or 2 in game miles given the scale if im correct) that shines like snow. if you're lucky you might see a long freight train crossing the flat but that is rare.
[ external image ]

the Salt Flat is a high wind area with orange wind socks placed along the median of I-80. the fist ones being at the ends before you enter the flat. than another in the middle of the flat

in the middle of the flat near mile marker 26 on the westbound side of I-80 is a sculpture called The Tree Of Utah. this is a land mark
[ external image ]
=============================================================================================

THE CANYONS

east of Salt Lake City is an area where the average height of the land rises about 2500 feet to the top of the mountains in Wyoming.
[ external image ]

to the east you begin in Wyoming up on top of the mountains where things are rather flat way up high. theres a reason why i call Wyoming "the rooftop state" but that is for another topic! but lets check this out

lets start up in wide open Wyoming and head west on I-80 to Salt Lake City
[ external image ]

now we are in Utah!
[ external image ]

going down
[ external image ]

the junction of I-80 and I-84 in Echo
[ external image ]

following I-80 west
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

and finally ending in Salt Lake City at the bottom
[ external image ]

I-84 follows the same down hill trend as I-80

=============================================================================================

Signal Peak & Big Point

this mountain range is just north of St. George Utah, across from Hurricane Utah

as seen from I-15 northbound
[ external image ]

=============================================================================================

SOUTH EAST UTAH

this is where the crazy looking rock formations exist

adding UT-276 in this area is not advised as it requires a ferry to cross a lake and would most likely by truck restricted

[ external image ]

pictures taken of this area at random
[ external image ]
[ external image ]
[ external image ]

this topic is just a starting point and a quick over view of the areas of Utah, more in depth research will need to be done about any specific area that is to be added to the map

=============================================================================================

Salt Lake

just a really big lake next to Salt Lake City

Crude Layout of Salt Lake City-with roads UT-154 Bangeter Hwy and UT-85 Mountain Corridor leading to Kennecott Mine west valley by Daybreak. East Valley run US 89 along east side of valley parallel along I-15 with Las Vegas wide streets. I-15 and I-80 interchange similar to Tuscon and reuse ATS companies like Walbert, Charge, use IKA for first time in ATS. New interchange single point interchanges are used in Wasatch Front as diamond ones could not accommodate the traffic or population growth no longer.

Salt Lake is continuous suburbs along I-15 from Ogden to Provo its 120 miles North to South by five miles wide average east to west. Provo-Salt Lake-Ogden corridor 80% of population of Utah lives there around 2.5 million similar in size to Las Vegas, but no gambling or vice allowed in Utah these are mormons :lol: .

Common cities to Deliver to from Salt Lake-Elko-Las Vegas, St George, Rock Springs, Logan.

Utah cities-Salt Lake with kennecott mine and airport like Phoenix then have commuter rail line runs along I-15 from Provo to Salt Lake then finally to Odgen. Would add only Salt Lake as delivery spot as Ogden and Provo are too close too add at 1:20 scale. Would add roads UT-85 mountain view corridor then US-89 then add UT-154 Bengenter Highway. St George-I-15 cuts into canyon on both sides then reuse Arizona assets or ATS base to build city.

Beryl Juncton easy place to add delivery spot seed farm prefab like Tropopah like Nevada same with Delta Utah. Green River farm and truck stop would be good spot halfway between Richfield and Grand Junction Colorado. Moab more tourist spot anyways, but good spot for tibit store and gas station to deliver.

Wendover be good to add have Casino on Nevada and parking lot on Utah side good truck stop spot and delivery point. Tremonton be another good city for Utah DLC I-84 and I-15 slipt then Richfield with US-89 and I-70. Moab and and St George for Southern Utah.

Fillmore for trucking stop and rest stops halfway point between Salt Lake and St George.

North of St George On I-15 there is 3000ft elevation climb for 60 miles till Cedar City. Think 8 to 10 cities would be acceptable for UtahDLC. Salt Lake-Ogden-Provo 80% state 3 million people live along 120 mile corridor.
