@JediCowboy. That link make me feel like I could hack the city like in Watch Dogs, lol. I know there are some cities that use these and they seem like they would help more than not.

@flight50 Texas doesn't use live traffic cameras? VDOT uses them along Interstates and some major US and state highways. Sometimes the local news stations also tap into the traffic cameras during the traffic report. They are a pretty common sight along highways in the East. The look like street lamp poles, but they have a camera on them like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=Traffic ... uYZ-iTnzYM And some of them sort of look like a mini cell tower like this: https://www.google.com/maps/@38.8011798 ... 312!8i6656

Yes we have them on a few Interstates here in Dallas at least. We just don't have them sprinkled thru out the city like the link JediCowboy posted. At least to my knowledge we don't.

The traffic cams TxDOT had were live way back around 2007 (I watched a water recovery of a body in the Wichita River from the I-44 camera back in 2007 due to the major flood we had - although, at the time I wasn't aware that's what was happening, I just saw a boat looking at something on the water). Sometime between then and now, with them replacing them with HD cameras, they made them snapshots only. Only news organizations can see the live feeds.

The streaming Colorado traffic cameras are pretty good (though not as high def as the Washington ones), though they still got quite a bit to go until they cover most of the main routes.
I do like their color coded map though.

Here is an old page of WSDOT which is still being updated!

http://www.wsdot.com/traffic/Cameras/de ... 1471027311

It has every WSDOT traffic map in the state and when you click on regions, there are even more. Over 500 some cameras.

Here is a different way to access the camera's if more useful to you. Lot of older camera's too.

Some videos by WSDOT on the SR 99 Tunnel through Seattle. It opens in five days. Very informative with video of the routes.

Has info for northbound and southbound as well as computer models to showcase the drive and access routes.
