How to separate parts?

#1 Post by ArTrailfanRaf214 » 20 May 2020 06:54

Hi,i have a problem,if i use Blender 2.82 and import my obj my parts are joined and i cannot separate them and all videos on blender 2.82 they were already separated but there isnt a part on it.If i use 2.79 they are correctly separated and i can use them correctly, however the problem is of no scs blender tools and mat errors in 2.79 so i have to use 2.8 if anyone knows how to separate my parts of haulin truck in 2.82 please notify as i am importing an obj converted from Zmodeler2 of an haulin truck
2.82.Image
In 2.79 completely fine Image
FMOD sound modder and currently learning to make my own 3D models, yet i'm fine at porting PTTM/Haulin mods into ATS/ETS2 with fixes.I do not take requests on new trucks,it will be a waste of time.

Donn`t know if the `separate parts` in blender 2.8x does not work by pressing the <p> key, in 3d view and choose 1 of the 3 options that pop`s up.
But a way around is im-port your .obj in 2.79 --> separated it (I ques by material if possebly) or the way you used to do.
export the new .obj , for safety with a new name .
Import new .obj in 2.8x

Good luck.

When you go to import your obj file go to the gear icon in the top right.

Then go to the geometry tab and make sure split is selected. And split by object and split by group is ticked.

Now as you can see the parts are separated.

Well, speaking from personal experience, i know how to 'fix' that

in zmod you need to export each model and then import it in Blender, i know it's sound frustrating but that's working :d.

^^exactly what @ryzenmaster75 said, Zmodeler 3 has the option to select objects by one click, even if the mesh is combined into a single object.
