FLARE error on export
FLARE error on export
Hi,
I'm using Converterpix Wrapper 1.5 / BlenderTools 1.12 to import a bumper (based on SCS DLC Volvo bumper22) into Blender (2.79) from a .scs (mod) file (not directly from DLC pack). The bumper is pre-modded with a few slots for addon_hookup parts (designated for Aux/marker lights), and two flares to enhance the fake fog lights. For cosmetic reasons I swap out an entire (3D) model part, and export to PIM/PIT.
On import, I get a warning over needless truckpaint attributes, but that's it.
On export, I get a Warning Summary
> Model locator "f_lp" has unexpected hookup value 'license.plate'
> Model locator 'light_h_2' has unexpected hookup value 'flare.vehicle.aux_light"
> Model locator 'light_h_3' has unexpected hookup value 'flare.vehicle.aux_light"
When I convert the pim/pit files back to pmd/pmg with conversion tools 2.7 or 2.8 (doesn't matter which), the flares are effectively gone.
If I open the converted files in Zmod, it appears the flare information has been stripped. Is there any way I can check in Blender if this was an import error that only was shown later on export, or a "real" export error?
Thanks for your great work,
Tom

Re: FLARE error on export
I think you miss the hookup files from the base game, so when exporting it leaves it empty. You can put the hookup files from the scs base in your mod before you export the mod.
Re: FLARE error on export
Thanks, but I'm not sure what you mean ... I'm new to Blender, trying to switch from Zmod... could you eleborate on that, please?
Re: FLARE error on export
See if in the Blender tool paths you have a path to the unpacked hookup folder.

ah ok no I haven't, will try that, thanks again!
Re: FLARE error on export
Well, tried linking the path, and even including the flares in thre mod... no change.
Re: FLARE error on export
Do you have the base set up correctly?

Re: FLARE error on export
i've made an observation.
When i export something that i previously imported, it gives me these exact warnings. And my flares don't show up in game.
But if i go back to my original blend file, and export from that, then no warnings.
In both cases, the hookup path was the same. And i have tried the refresh hookups function.
Though i still can't get licence plates to show up.

Re: FLARE error on export
before you import make sure you always have a copy of the units folder in your mod base even if you dont create a custom one, or else you can reassign the flares for every locator i the mode
and even if you have missed it, just copy it in, click the refresh logo and delete the last letter of the flare name and blender will show you a list of available flares, click on the right one and you have resigned it

Scene tab > SCS Tools > Global Settings > Path Settings > Hookup Library
This path should be linking to the /unit/hookup/ folder from Base. This way when importing models with flares it will pull all the information for them as well. You only need to add the unit/hookups into the mod if you do custom ones.
