Vertex paint is a major reason that some parts are a different shade than other parts.
Make sure all of your parts have the same exact vertex paint color each other to minimize color/shade differences.

When importing a cab model into Blender, it notifies me of this error. But I don't think this mistake has anything to do with the main mistake, because it also appears on previous truck models (daf_xf, daf_xf_euro6, iveco_hiway, iveco_stralis, man_tgx & man_tgx_euro6).

I'm doing the modification to add locations to my mod. Previous models of trucks and cabs were made without errors (daf_xf, daf_xf_euro6, iveco_hiway, iveco_stralis, man_tgx & man_tgx_euro6). For other truck models, I'm not sure because I'm stuck with "mercedes_actros_2009".

I don't understand how to make normal maps.

When I bake "normal" it just ends up a plain purple color

thats not what he asks, he wants to CREATE a normal map, and for this you need a high polygon object you can bake from to get a normal texture, you cant just bake something from a low poly object with a texture to get a good looking normal map

if you want a normal map from an existing texture you need to create it with photoshop/gimp/paint.net or whatever program can do it, blender can only bake it from high polygon objects you need

What would be the recommended texture size?
I'm trying to reduce the size of the mod

Some are 1024x1024 and some are 2048x2048

Also I want some plastic and aluminium material settings

For plastic and aluminum textures and normal maps I go for 512x512 and tick U and V repeat in tobj settings. The UV map used for these textures is scaled up depending on how I want the result to look like e.g. when doing chequer plates
