If you want SCS to fix the bug then have patience.

Same to me.
Haul 60 tonne load, my truck sliding and won't turn.
Face this on version 1.17 and same on 1.18.

Previous version,1.16 no problem.

g10stpd, do not re-open a bug report, in a different topic.
more than this, the bug has been registered into SCS bug trackiung system, so pushing it it's pointless.
Retired, but still loving it.

My bad, I was just looking for an update on this as it has been this way since first beta of 1.17 and since then both 1.17 and 1.18 have been released. I guess SCS must have promised Mercedes that they would be in the game by a certain date and allocated resources to doing that, but this has been going on long enough to not hear anything about it.

With the "new" physics engine of 1.17, came massive understeer to some tractors in 6x configurations. I had put a lot of kilometers on the old MB Low Roof 6x4 prior to that patch and afterwards, my truck was undriveable. I switched to my next favorite truck, the DAF Euro 6 6x4 and it was even worse. Some folks claimed that that's how 6x4 works since it's driving all 4 rear wheels (that's not how it works since they have differentials, but anyways) so on that hunch I tried 6x2 on my old Mercedes and it still exhibited the same behavior. Not all trucks drive poorly, every 4x2 I've tried is fine. Switching my old MB to 6x2/4 made it fine along with other trucks that I have done that with. I tried the new Renault Magnum 6x4 and it drove fine as well.

Since I use mouse steering and keyboard for accelerate/brake. Some other folks claim the issue is with keyboard for accelerate being like you are holding it to the floor instead of using part throttle. This may be somewhat true, but only should be at low speeds. Quick power multiplied by the lower gearing could possibly cause a slight push, but nothing as pronounced in this game currently.

I'm not speaking with an uneducated opinion; I do have experience as a trucker in real life. I used to drive heavy pulpwood loads (25t+) frequently along back roads and even off road through the woods. I drove many different trucks over the years, but all were 6x4 which is typical in America. The only times I ever experienced my truck pushing were when going too fast for the conditions, not necessarily under acceleration. For example the worst understeer I had ever dealt with was a Kenworth W900 that was pulling an overloaded 45 foot trailer. The truck had very fancy huge chrome mudflap brackets on the back and the owner refused to slide the fifth wheel forward, to put proper weight on the steering axle because the trailer's landing gear would tear tear them off. I had to drive it about 200 miles loaded in the rain and had to hit turns about 15 miles per hour slower than average because the front end would push at speed (55 mph).

That got lengthy..

Hey SCS, here's an idea besides fixing the handling proper: Limit available jobs weights by chassis configuration. Don't have a 4x2 pulling 25t and driving better than a 6x4. Right now there is no real incentive to outfit your truck with anything more than 4x2 as you just cause yourself more fuel stops if you do. Also, can we not have chassis 'swaps' as an available upgrade, that's super unrealistic and all the more reason to buy a new truck.

Again turning left and right grip problem

#87 Post by Hoky » 26 May 2015 20:21

After 1.17.x update I have problem with sliding during cornering left or right with trailer more than 17t. I use Scania R 6x4 chassis. I saw lot of people talking about here about Scania and some other trucks 6x4 chassis sliding problem. I tried 4x2 chassis and everything works amazing. I tried carry 48t with 4x2 Scania and there was no problem. So with 1.18 I still have same sliding problem. I don't know if somebody else can nofirm identical ploblem, SCS plase, please, please, fix it. :D

please, note, that american trucks are quite different from european.
understeering is much less visible there because they are longer and have engine in front of drivers cabin, thus have center of gravity positioned more forward. it makes better lever against any weight the trailer forces to rear axles.

but we are aware of problems you have and we are working on it.
Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

The drift when trying to steer w/ 1.18 update.

#90 Post by Pooch379 » 30 May 2015 19:22

I was on this board awhile back and read others were having or noticing this issue as well as myself.

Someone posted that SCS was aware and were working on it.

Can someone direct me to this thread or the solution if one has been made. Maybe a trick w/ the force feedback sliders, etc.

It is driving me nuts and would love to go back to the enjoyment I found in this game.

Will check back here or my messages later, if you wish to delete this message and PM me to get directions to the post or fix. Thanks in advance.

(I tried searching for steering, other words, but the search criteria wouldn't let me search w/ the word steering)
