AI Truck brakes after cars swerve in [16774]

#1 Post by Kp_109 » 01 May 2015 23:52

Dear Forum Users,

after some hours of testing i noticed, that the AI Trucks seem to brake very hard on the highway if an AI Car overtakes and swerves into the right lane in front of the truck.
Even if there is a lot of space, they brake down like an emergency brake. If this happens 2 or 3 times in a short period of time, the truck drives around 30 Kph/19mph.

This speed and behavior is in my opinion really anoying, it makes normal 84-88kph driving almost impossible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Furthermore i think the AI-Truck speeds are also not realistic. I know they are set for the standart law speed limits, but lets be honest, when was the last time you saw a truck doing 80kph on a highway? :D For my experience most are set from 84-89kph.

Don't understand this wrong, after 400 hours of ETS2 i really love the game, these are just the facts that worry me for a while.

Greetings

Yeah, this is really annoying, i can't really draft or convoy behind AI trucks because when they get overtaken they slam the brakes, and they become more of a hazard than the cars overtaking them.

I've also noticed (In recent versions) AI cars suddenly braking for absolutely no reason on the motorway...

Yes, I've noticed the same thing.

if the 2 AI cars drive in front of me and first change lanes, then the other to brake the pace almost to zero. Why?

Second car not should brake, if the first leaves in front off.

Yeah A.I. panic braking is seeming like an all to regular occurrence now, yesterday I was making 1 or 2 mph progress on a truck, and at the same time waiting for a Mondeo to pass as he was stonking it up the fast lane on my left (I was in France), as soon as he went past I had just enough time and space to pull out behind him to start passing the truck I'd just caught up to, only problem was as soon as I was behind the Mondeo and he had drawn level with the truck he hit the anchors, how I didn't rear end him and shunt him into the middle of next week i'll never know

Needless to say that A.I. driver got called a few choice words (with my Wife looking at me as if she'd finally got unequivocal confirmation that her Husband is stark raving mad) :|

Or is it all of them half blind and deaf,

I fortunately only half-deaf.

I was about to make same post, braking down from 80 to 30 km/h with no reason.
AI may be problematic to set it up correctly, but most of those pleasantries should be tuned down as they are more harmful than helpful.

for me, there isnt really a specific set of coordinates to reproduce this, its just trying to follow trucks down highways with two lanes on both sides (it happens on 3 laned ones too, though i personally havent observed it as much).

I agree with the above, happens on many of the highways, I noticed particularly today through northern Germany heading towards Rostock. It makes driving with cruise control set at the speed limit almost impossible.
